How to Uninstall Windows Live Mail 2012

If you are using the latest version of Windows Live Mail - WLM 2012, then that is a good choice. Besides being free, it has a lot of features nearly comparable to commercial email clients like Microsoft Outlook 2007/2010. However, as you use it and your email accumulates, and when you install Windows Updates or MS Office updates, Windows Live Mail can behave erratically as an effect.

Uninstall Windows Live Mail

Since Windows Live Mail 2012 is a Windows application, it is affected mostly by the changes you make in your Windows Operating System. This includes installation of other programs and removal of other programs as well. Another big factor that affect Windows Live Mail is the accumulated bulk of emails as you use it over time.

When things go wrong with your Windows Live Mail 2012, here are the steps to uninstall it:

NOTE: Windows Lie Mail 2010 is not a standalone software. This is the reason why you will not see it when you go to Control Panel => Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista/7). It is a part of a software suite called Windows Live Essentials or Windows Essentials 2012. 

Step 1: For Windows XP click on Start => Settings Control Panel. For Windows Vista and 7, click on Start => Control Panel.

Step 2: For Windows XP, locate Add/Remove Programs and open it. For Windows Vista/7, click Programs and Features to open it. If this item is not listed, you might need to change the VIEW of your Control Panel from Classic to Category or from Category to Small icons in Windows Vista/7.

Step 3: In the list of installed software, locate and click on Windows Essentials 2012 or Windows Live Essentials (One of this shall be listed)

Step 4: Then click Change/Uninstall button.

Step 5: In the dialog box that opens, select "Remove one or more Windows Essentials programs"

Step 6: In the next screen, it will list all component programs of Windows Essentials. Click on "Mail" then click on the "Uninstall" button.

Step 7: Then follow the on-screen procedures to completely remove Windows Live Mail. It might prompt you to restart the computer.
