How to disable or delete Google Chrome extensions

If you are using the web browser from Google -- Chrome, here are the steps that you can follow to troubleshoot your browser related problems. The steps described in this article is simply disabling or removing Chrome extensions that interfere with your browsing.

Why Disable Extensions?

The main reason why Chrome extensions need to be disabled, turned off or removed is because some of these extensions affect the behavior of other programs installed in your computer. Also, some of the extensions affect how certain websites or web services behave when browsing using Chrome. One good example for this is with Hotmail.

To disable or remove extensions, here are the steps:

  1. Open your Chrome browser.
  2. Click on the Chrome menu at the top right corner of the window.

  3. Then point to Tools then click on Extensions.

  4. Then you shall get a new tab showing all installed extensions. These extensions are something that you installed manually, or those that are automatically installed when you install a certain software in your computer.
  5. In this list, simply UNCHECK the extension to DISABLE it. If you want to remove the extension, click on the trash icon.
