If you are using Windows Live Mail and you have already accumulated a lot of email messages, you might wonder how you can transfer all your existing email messages to your MS Outlook when you decide to discontinue your Windows Live Mail.

How to move your Windows Live Mail emails to MS Outlook

The process is straightforward especially if Windows Live Mail and MS Outlook 2007, 2010 or 2013 are both installed in the same computer. If MS Outlook is not installed on the same computer where Windows Live Mail is installed, the process detailed below is not applicable. Moving your Windows Live Mail emails to MS Outlook (2007, 2010 or 2013)

The process detailed below moves your Windows Live Mail directly into your Outlook mail files.

  1. Open your Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Next, open Windows Live Mail.
  3. In the Windows Live Mail window, click the File button. If you do not have the File menu, click on the small down-arrow, point to Export Email and then click on Email messages.

  4. In the dialog box that appears, select Microsoft Exchange as the format and then click Next.

  5. You will get a prompt saying that all email will be exported to Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Exchange, click Ok to confirm and continue.

  6. In this Export process, you have the option to export all email folders or just select the appropriate folders that you want to export by using the Select folders option. Make your selection and click on OK.

  7. When the Export Complete dialog box appears, click Finish. Just remember that this process can take some time, depending on the actual number of messages that you are exporting to your MS Outlook.
